The Magickal Power Of Beliefs
Everyone in the self-development world talks about
the magickal power of beliefs. And with good reason.
What you believe underlies everything you experience.
In fact, it
creates your experiences.
There are 3 ways this works... one of Earth / Body, one of Air / Mind, one of Spirit / Aether
The Power of Beliefs 1: The Seed Of Experience
Just as a seed, buried underground, gives rise to a root, a plant, a flower, a fruit, and another related seed, so do the ideas you have of yourself and life.
Beliefs, buried in your subconscious mind where you're not aware of them, give rise to a chain of events... yielding the fruit of your experiences.
Belief creates emotion —>
Emotion creates thought —>
Thought creates action —>
Action creates result —>
Result creates your experience
Most people would say beliefs create thoughts, but that's a confusion of cause and effect. Beliefs
are thoughts... thoughts that have been repeated often enough or imprinted deeply enough that they become programmed into your subconscious mind and you take them as unquestionable truth.
And it doesn't end there!
Every time you allow a belief to come to fruition this way, it grows so that in future it'll have even more strength, even more inevitability.
That can be a good thing... if it's a positive, productive belief.
Unfortunately, many of your subconscious beliefs will be negative ones that you picked up from those around you when you were young.
The Power of Beliefs 2: Colouring Your Experiences
Everything you experience is filtered through your beliefs, so that your mind knows how to react.
Here's an example: Someone fails to live up to an agreement. That's an objective fact. If aliens came down to the planet and you replayed the video of the event, they could see and understand this: an agreement was made, and it wasn't fulfilled.
How you
interpret this fact subjectively depends on your subconscious beliefs...
- You can't depend on them / anyone
- They are a liar / people always lie
- They abandoned you when you needed them
- You shouldn't have hope or expectations, because they always lead to disappointment
- It's your fault for trusting them
- They don't care about / like / love you
- They are a bad person / without morals
These are the kinds of negative beliefs that are common. Many times, we're not even conscious of this self-talk; we just feel bad about the situation.
The most damaging part is, we don't doubt that we're absolutely right!
In fact, there are other beliefs that we
could have...
- Something unavoidable must have come up
- They will follow through soon
- There must have been a misunderstanding or miscommunication
- Something might have happened that changed the plan
- I don't know what happened; I should call and ask
The Power of Beliefs 3: The Magickal Law of Vibration
The third power of beliefs is what is often called the Law of Attraction, but what is in fact the Law of Vibration.
The Law of Vibration is the fundamental creational system of the universe, and its essence is this:
Vibration is the source of everything in existence.
One of the corollaries of the Law of Vibration is that
similar frequencies attract. This is the basis of the Law of Attraction.
Every thought, every emotion, every belief has a vibrational frequency. And that draws to you things that are of the same frequency.
I'm sure you know this part already. When you emit the vibrations of love or fear or shame or hate or joy or thanks... more things show up in your life that carry that kind of frequency. You have experiences that bring you more of those feelings.
The trick with beliefs is that, as i said before, they're often not conscious. So you think you're sending out thoughts of self-worth or abundance out into the world, while your subconscious is transmitting beliefs of doubt or scarcity.
And your subconscious never rests! It's transmitting your subconscious beliefs 24 / 7 / 365.
So it's your beliefs, much more than your thoughts or even emotions, that create your reality.
Change Your Beliefs & You Change Your Life
Based on all this, it's clear that if you change your subconscious beliefs, your life will change to match.
Unfortunately, that's not always easy. Here's something you can do, though...
Start with one belief that's causing you distress.
It might be something that you know is lingering, like an old pattern of self-doubt for instance. Or you can look at something that keeps recurring in your life as a clue to a destructive belief lurking in your subconscious.
Here's the thing about beliefs. You think they're true, because you've been
trained / programmed to see the world through that lens. (And, frankly, because you trust the voice in your head above all things. :-D )
But see if you can't realize that other people might see it differently! That means there are multiple ways to think about this, multiple beliefs you could hold.
So... what might you choose to believe instead?
What belief would make you happier?
What belief would put you into harmony with Divine energy?
Choose that belief. Write it down and put it up somewhere it'll remind you to nurture that belief. If you feed it, it will grow.
What action could you take, to put that new belief into practice?
Start now. There's only ever now.
