Good self-care is vital to surviving the 2012 Transition. At this late stage of the Transition, your mind, your body, even your energy field are being upgraded very rapidly... and repeatedly!
What's going on is like the Kundalini Rising for the whole planet. And Kundalini Rising is extremely hard on those who are unprepared.
Some signs of having trouble integrating these changes can be seen in these ongoing symptoms...
Excessive mood swings and emotional outbursts, depression, despair, or anxiety
Feeling out of sorts, lost, adrift
Mental confusion and lack of concentration
Involuntary body movements or spasms, or spontaneous vocalisation
Pain in the chest and racing or irregular heart rhythm
Systemic illnesses like fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, irritable bowel, digestive problems, etc.
Taking care of yourself is one way both to prepare you for this upgrade, and to help you integrated the changes successfully.
Good self-care also reduces the problems that may attend a Kundalini Rising, keeping you safer, healthier, calmer, and happier.
This article covers the basics of good self-care survival strategies for the 2012 Transition. Some of the following will be very common-sense suggestions. Unfortunately, they are not commonly practiced, so they're worth mentioning again.
Some of them may be new to you, or you may not have realised how essential they are.
All of them are important.
Self-Love In Self-Care
Before you start wondering how you'd ever fit more stuff into your day, let alone a long list of self-caring practices -- relax.
You don't need to do everything, every day. For most of them, that isn't necessary. Aim to do them once a week, though. Or even once a month, for the bigger ones.
And many slip right into your daily schedule without taking time out, so it's not a big deal to add them.
The point is to just put some self-caring practices into each day.
Just as many as you can without overburdening yourself.
Trying to do too much is contrary to good self-care. It's not self-loving or self-nurturing to put a lot of pressure on yourself! Avoid blaming or judging yourself about all this.
Rather, approach the practice of self-care -- as much as you can -- in a spirit of self-love.
Warning: Beware Your "Self"
Self-care is something we hear about all our lives. And still it's a challenge to maintain!
It may help to be aware that part of the resistance to self-nurturing comes from the ego, which doesn't WANT you to be too happy or comfortable, let alone to access higher levels of consciousness. That would push the ego out of the Captain's chair!
Nothing is more slippery, more sly, more believable than the ego! After all, it's the voice inside you, that seems like you! If you can't believe "yourself" who can you trust?
Well, the ego is not very trustworthy. It will undermine all your best intentions, if you're not careful.
Beware the ego's sneaky resistance, which tells you things like...
"I don't really need to do this."
"This is silly."
"There's too much to do, I don't have time for all this!"
"Oh, I'm coping just fine thanks; other people probably need this but not me."
"There's nothing wrong; just get on with things."
"I can't afford it!"
"I did that already. Yesterday. Or was it last week? Anyway, I did that enough."
"Oh the kids need me, and that's more important."
"But what I really need is to just rest. I'll turn on the TV... that's taking good care of myself. It's honouring my need for rest and fun." (In fact, TV and computer both drain energy, rather than replenish it, but since they act on the brain like a drug, it's hard to notice that.)
Healing And Growth With An Ego
So how do you work around this sneaky ego?
Recognise the ego as the source of these self-defeating statements.
Then treat your ego as if it were a stubborn, frightened child -- with firmness and reassurance.
After all, the ego is very much part of the inner child.
It may sound silly, but it can be extremely effective to actually speak to your ego, just as if it were a 3-year-old. Hug yourself at the same time, as if to hug your loveable inner child.
Here's an example of what you could say...
"You really don't want to do this, do you? I understand that. If I were you, I probably wouldn't want to either.
"But you know why it's important to do it anyway? Because then we'll feel better! We really will! We'll be happier and healthier. You want to feel happy, don't you?
"And you're okay; you're safe. I'm here with you, and I'm taking good care of you. You'll see; it'll be great! Ready? Let's give it a go."
This is, in fact, a very valuable survival strategy during any time of great change. And there's never been a time of change like this 2012 Transition!
